Q: How is LHR Farms regulated?

A: The treatment and disposal operations on the farm are regulated by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. The White County local health department had regulated these operations until the law was changed in 2005. The farm’s operation is grandfathered under this change in the law. Q: Does LHR have a Permit?

A: LHR Farms’ septage operation is legal and regulated by the Georgia Environmental Protection Division. The farm is under new state requirements but is grandfathered from any permitting requirements until 2012 or until new permitting requirements can be adopted and implemented by the State. It is expected that a process for permitting this facility will be developed in 2008.
